Overwhelmed by Stress?
We all experience
stress, but sometimes stress can build up so much that it effects your ability to function. Some common factors that contribute to stress include work or school commitments, family and relationship conflict, financial issues, change or uncertainty about the future, or just having too much going on and being too busy.
If you have too much
stress, you may experience things such as:
- Feeling tired, overwhelmed and burnt out.
- Irritability, anger, anxiety and depression.
- Difficulty relaxing and sleeping.
- Distressing physical symptoms.
How Counselling and Therapy Can Help
You'll never be able to avoid stress altogether, but you can learn ways to help manage stress so it doesn’t cause problems and get in the way of your ability to enjoy yourself.
When you come for
counselling or
therapy, we'll examine what's been going on in your life that's been causing your stress and the effect that stress has been having on you. I’ll help you:
- Recognize your triggers and warning signs of stress, and learn steps you can take to help you deal with stress before it becomes overwhelming.
- Explore patterns bahaviour and patterns of thinking and self-talk that are contributing to your stress, and changes to these patterns that can help you reduce stress.
- Examine lifestyle changes that can decrease your level of stress and make it easier to help you manage the stress that is present in your life.
- Learn relaxation and mindfulness techniques that can reduce stress and help you cope better when you do experience stress.
Our work together will help you learn to reduce the stress in your life, relieve stress when it does arise, and find ways to not allow stress to interfere with your quality of life.
